I'm 18, and I was born and raised in California. My mom's originally from China, and my dad's from Pennsylvania, and his grandparents came from Ireland. I live less than an hour north of San Francisco in a city called Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County, known for its agriculture and economy based off of wine and tourism and working-class stuff mainly. So question is, do you think CA is still a nice place to live or do you think it sucks? It seems like a lot of people, even native Californians, hate it here. They complain about the unemployment, the cost of living, and they don't like what's become of the illegal immigration from the South of the Border. It may be racist, but I knew some people who just didn't like the fact it's starting to become dominated by a certain culture many people are not fond of. And keep in mind I don't even live in southern California, I live pretty far up north. However, I really like Mexican food and most of the Latinos I've befriended were nice chill kids, despite many of them being Norte wannabes. I'd like to move to the San Jose area or even San Francisco, where there's a large Asian community, lots of good Asian food, more job opportunities and the urban life (or at least more urbanized than where I'm living now), more stuff to do in general. The Dream Act passed, which if you didn't know, it's to give illegal immigrants free college intuition and all that matter, which is pissing off a lot of people. It might encourage a lot more illegal immigration from Mexico/Latin America and California might be "Mexifornia" and people are too afraid to voice out their opinions against it because it will OFFEND. I think the Dream Act has benefits but is not a way to help LEGAL citizens getting into college or financial aid. So yeah, Kalifornyah sucks or still a great place to live? I like it and it's my homestate, but I don't know nowadays.... Read More »
